Hibiscus Tea

  • 2 cups filtered water
  • 2 tablespoons Ziyad Brand hibiscus flower

Vimto Mocktails

  • 1 cup fresh blackberries, plus extra for garnish
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced, plus extra for garnish
  • Juice of 2 limes
  • 1/2 cup Vimto concentrate (adjust to taste)
  • Lime sparkling water
  • Crushed ice
  • Fresh mint sprigs (optional, for garnish)

This delicious and refreshing mocktail is a great way to break your fast and quench your thirst.

Vimto is a popular soft drink known for its fruity flavor. It’s often consumed as a refreshing beverage, particularly during Ramadan. Vimto typically contains a blend of fruit juices, including grapes, raspberries, and blackcurrants, along with various spices. It has a unique taste that many people enjoy, especially when served chilled over ice. Vimto hibiscus with fresh berries and lime is a delicious combo topped with sparkling water.

Instructions

To Make the Hibiscus Tea

  1. In a saucepan over medium-high heat, bring the water to a boil.
  2. Remove from heat, add the hibiscus flowers, and let steep for 5-6 minutes.
  3. Strain the tea to remove the flowers, then let the mixture cool completely.

To Make the Mocktails

  1. In a large bowl, combine the cooled hibiscus tea, lime juice, and Vimto concentrate. Stir well to combine, tasting and adjusting the sweetness by adding more Vimto if desired.
  2. Add 1/2 cup of blackberries and 1/2 cup of mint leaves to the mixture. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to mash the blackberries and mint, releasing their flavors into the drink.

To Assemble

  1. Fill glasses halfway with crushed ice.
  2. Pour the hibiscus mocktail mixture (including the muddled blackberries) into each glass until it’s about halfway full.
  3. Top with lime sparkling water.
  4. Garnish with fresh blackberries, sliced strawberries, and mint sprigs, if desired.
  5. Serve immediately and enjoy!
